Tower Transit is inviting the public to help choose the design of its bus captain’s uniforms. An online poll has been set-up on its Facebook page (www.facebook.com/towertransitsg) for members of the public to select their favourite out of four designs.
In a separate poll, bus captains of the 26 bus routes that Tower Transit will take over starting mid-2016 have also been invited to rank the designs according to preference. Their votes will be given greater weightage, and the most popular design by aggregate will become the official uniform of Tower Transit’s bus captains.
“Many people rely on the bus for their daily commute. They take the same bus services, they even see the same bus captains and passengers every day. Since it’s such a regular part of their lives, we wanted to give those involved a small say in how they experience their bus rides,” said Adam Leishman, CEO, Tower Transit.
“At the end of the day, it’s our bus captains who will be wearing the uniforms and we want to give them something fresh and a sense of ownership and pride in their jobs, that’s why we’ve given them a bigger say in the decision. In London for example, some of our captains insisted on wearing waist coats, so we issued optional Tower Transit waist coats and a surprising number now wear them as they want to look professional,” he said.
The four uniform options include design features such as colour blocking, Peranakan styling, aviation-inspired elements and a more corporate, buttoned-up look. The online poll opened on 23 October and already more than 1,000 votes have been received. Voting will end on 13 November at
8pm and 30 participants will stand to win NTUC FairPrice vouchers worth $20 each or EZ-Link Cards with S$20 in stored value. The winning design will be announced at a later date.
