16 November 2021 – With the Downtown Line (DTL) offering additional and faster travel options to commuters, bus services with sectors duplicating the DTL have seen a reduction in ridership as commuters switched from buses to rail, in particular for longer haul journeys.
Service 66 currently operates between Jurong East and Bedok Bus Interchanges. It duplicates the DTL2 between Beauty World and Little India and DTL3 between Jalan Besar and Bedok Reservoir extensively. Ridership of Service 66 has fallen with the opening of DTL, in particular along the sectors parallel to the rail line. Therefore, with effect from 12 December 2021, Service 66 will be amended to operate from Jurong East Bus Interchange and loop at Beauty World. This means that the service will no longer serve the Dunearn Road / Bukit Timah Road corridor as well as the sectors in the east, e.g. MacPherson, Ubi and Bedok Reservoir
Commuters can still complete their journeys by MRT or alternative bus services. Key alternative bus services include Service 65 between Serangoon Road / Jalan Besar and Bedok Reservoir, Services 67 and 170 along Bukit Timah Road / Dunearn Road and Service 228 between Bedok Reservoir Road and Bedok Bus Interchange / MRT Station.
Please refer to the attached poster for more information on the amended route, operating hours and the alternative bus services available to commuters.
